First Gotthard combined the unparalleled bloodlines of Furioso II and Gotthard. He and the remarkable Dutch stallion Voltaire were the only two living stallions in the world offering this bloodline combination. Furioso II was heralded as perhaps the most influential foundation sporthorse stallion on record. First Gotthard's dam Gotik/Gotthard, has produced three other licensed stallions: Furstengold, Furstenstolz, and Ingold.

First Gotthard was produced by the famous Hanoverian breeder First Gotthard clearing hurdleGeorg Vorwerk. Georg Vorwerk found Furioso II and brought him back to Germany to improve the Hanoverian breed. Vorwerk stood First Gotthard at stud among some of the most famous stallions in the history of the Hanoverian horse, such as Furioso II, Inschallah, Zeus, and Westminster.

During the years First Gotthard stood at stud in Germany, he made a significant impact on the Hanoverian breed. He was ranked among the top 10% best producers of jumpers among stallions of his age group. First Gotthard jad a jumping index of 142 as reported in Der Hannoveraner magazine.

First Gotthard's get are consistently recognized for their outstanding athletic movement and ability. In addition to his exceptional jumping offspring, First Gotthard also deserves commendation for his dressage progeny. He has produced many USDF Horse of the Year qualifiers.
