May Bellucci (1992-2007) - Danish Warmblood. From Elissa Barratt: "Gus was 17h 2" and a true gentle giant. By the age of 9 we were competing at PSG level with great success and working at all the Grand Prix movements at home. With his previous rider he'd been reserve National Novice Champion aged 6 and 4th at the Elementary National Championships aged 7. He never put a foot wrong in competition and was always better in the show ring than at home; he knew when to perform. 2002 was a good year for Gus as we represented Great Britain at a CDI YR in Belgium in Feb when he had only just turned 10. I am only 5'6" so for us to be dong this level at such a young age is testament to his incredible character. He was also so light in build and a real ladies' horse, without lacking in power. I could go from a huge extended canter to a halt with the lightest touch; he always wanted to please--something I gather he got from his daddy.

"His forte was his passage and his flying changes, he only ever made mistakes when I tried for 9's rather than being happy with 8's. From the photo you can see he looked like his father, just one whole hand bigger! He is greatly missed. He was my first chestnut horse but now I'm converted. Thank you Gus for everything you have done for us all, we miss you so much."

From Wendy Staub: "Beste Gold and his breeder/owner/rider won the USDF/GAIG REGION 1 Championships First level Adult Amateur Reserve Champion. He qualified for the USEF Young Horse Selection Trials (Eastern Division) in the FEI Test for 5-year-old horses. He has also received his USDF Performance Certificates at Training and First level while earning the complimenting USDF Rider Achievement awards for me."
